One extra box on the line. Nine months to pay it back.

How machine vision changes a way we produce things!

In partnership with

For some of you it may be a surprise that for some time now I have been running a podcast!

So far I have not shared it here, because I run it in Polish.

Because of that, for a big part of you it would be rather hard to understand :)

Robotalki is a place where people from the Polish industry talk about their real life at work. I invite people from different roles and different places. From factories, from system integrators, from automation suppliers, from industry experts. In short, a look at what we can really do today.

Robotalki’s cover

From every talk, I try to take something for myself. At least one sentence that I write down and try to remember.

But this week, one page in my notebook was full of good quotes! My guest, Paweł Janczyk, was an engineer who has been working with vision systems for 15 years and fell into them headfirst.

He also opened my engineer's eyes to the fact that vision is no longer just a cool gadget at the end of the line for quality check, but a solution that saves real money already at the start of the production line.

Quick case study

A line that fills paint into cans, with many different colors. Until now, the cans were checked only at the end of the line. Even a small defect in the can meant it was rejected. Paint lost, time lost, money thrown away in the process.

By adding one more block to the production line, an AOI system. Automated Optical Inspector, made by Paweł and his company MV Center, rejected bad cans at the very start of the process. Because of that, the number of complaints went down a lot. The ROI of this machine was 9 months.

ONLY 9 months.

After that time, the machine started to make money for the production company.

Technology changes day by day. Things that once were an innovation today lose their exclusivity and are available to many.

Here I also share links to contact Paweł:

Have a nice weekend

Jacek
