Why I’m Glad I Showed Up to Collaborate in Kraków
A quick recap of what I saw, felt, and learned at Collaborate in Kraków - fresh cobot ideas, real talks, and the magic of face-to-face meetings.
Yesterday I had a chance to join a big robotics event. Even better, it took place in Poland, in Kraków. Just 20 minutes from my house.
I’d honestly be a total idiot not to show up to something this big happening so close by.
So what’s Collaborate?
It’s a series of events that brings together all the major players in the world of robotics. Of course, it’s all about the UR ecosystem 😉
I showed up, wandered around, checked out the new stuff, talked to some buddies from the industry, did some recon — and I’ve got a few thoughts.
Mid-sized events are underrated
Recently, I’ve been to a few local industry events, and honestly? Most of them were boring. Same booths, same people, nothing new.
But this one? Hats off to UR and their partners. They really put effort into it. Lots of fresh applications, real use cases, and creative ideas showing where cobots can actually bring value. Solid work.

Talks and presentations
Here’s where I got hit with a bit of reality.
I walked in thinking everyone’s already past the basics of AI in factories. Thought we’d jump straight into deep dives and crazy implementations. Turns out, most of the talks were still stuck at the intro level. More “AI 101” than “AI wizardry.”
But that’s okay. Sometimes it’s good to be reminded that the world outside your tech bubble is on a different page. Humbling, for sure.
Nothing beats face to face
Let’s be real. Online meetings are fine. They’re quick, convenient, and usually get the job done. But they don’t even come close to being there in person.
When you're face to face, you feel the energy. You catch the little things — the way someone lights up when they talk, the body language, the vibe. You share a bad coffee, crack a joke, and suddenly you're having a real conversation that no video call could ever spark.
The best ideas happen in the moments between the agenda. That only happens when you're in the same space, breathing the same air.
Face to face is how real connections are made. And no screen will ever replace that.
To wrap it up — I’m satisfied. More than satisfied.
It felt great to step out of the office, reset a bit, and soak in something new.
Just one thing:
The coffee was terrible. Like really, really bad. 😉
